I imagine there isn’t a person on the planet who couldn’t relate to this video.  We have all had to meet the challenges of Covid-19 — the family separation or loss, the change in routine or job security, the loneliness, the frustration, the weight gain, the ennui — and so “Sigo Siendo” is now a universal theme.  But of course, some individual’s struggles have been greater than others, like in the case of my daughter’s family — Hanna, Juancho, and Lila.  My greatest hope as we mount this pandemic in the days ahead is that we do so with a deeper sense of empathy for everyone.

 As I watch my sweet granddaughter in this video, I swipe my tears with one predominate thought, something my father shared with me, and perhaps the greatest piece of wisdom I know in times of fear and struggle:  Keep your eyes on the children, and smile.
